We arrived in Edinburgh safely today. Thankfully, it had finished raining and the sun was shining. All our luggage fit in the rental car.....whew! Tom, our designated driver for the week, drove us to Leven, about 45 min. away. Our house in Leven is very quaint......kind of like being on House Hunters International.
After a much needed hot shower and no nap, we drove about 30 minutes through the beautiful coastal countryside to St. Andrews. We lunched on steak and ale pie with peas and tatties at Central Pub in the heart of the town centre. We went to the Old Course and walked around on the golf course since it was closed for play on Sunday. According to the golfers in our group, it was a true links course with lots of swales and berms and incredibly deep bunkers. Beth and Martha thought it was full of huge holes and pretty green hilly things. We roamed up and down the quaint streets of this very historic city and saw cathedral and castle ruins as well as catching a wedding party celebrating outside St. Andrews University, the oldest university in Scotland.
Although it was a blustery day, Martha and Beth were still unable to determine what one might find under a Scotsman's kilt. On to the coastal village of Anstruther to dine on fish and chips.

That is pretty gross. Brian said that he is very jealous of y'all going to St. Andrews. Sounds like fun! Post a pic when you blog!
Can't wait to read more. I'm with Brian, though; I want to see some of the great pictures you take!
