WDW Day 1

The boys got up super early to hit Magic Kingdom's early bird 8:00am opening and rode quite a few rides by the time the girls and the rest of the crowds joined them later in the morning. Some of us slept a bit later, walked the long walk across the lake to breakfast at the hotel and leisurely took the shuttle to Magic Kingdom. Yawn. When we all met up we got the obligatory family pictures at Cinderella's castle.

Somehow, we managed to get a shot without all the tourists.

Magical!

The kids and I rode Haunted Mansion while Papa kept watch over our sleeping beauty. I have to admit it wasn't as exciting as when we rode it over and over when the girls were little, but it did bring back fun memories. We all rode It's A Small World, including our smallest who was mesmerized by all the sights and sounds.

After lunch at the Liberty Tree Tavern, we all rode Peter Pan. I will say, this was a dream come true for Kinsley and me as we have talked about this many times while swinging under the tree at Camp Sugar Land. I think flying over London into Never Land through pixie dust is something everyone should do, no matter what their age!

The lines weren't too long and Fast Passes were a big help. So was the Disney App on our phones which told us the wait time of each ride. We loved Mickey's Philharmonic. Well, most of us did although it interrupted someone's nap.

About mid-afternoon, we decided to take a ferry ride and a shuttle bus to Hollywood Studios (formerly known as MGM Studios) for the remainder of the day. A pesky raincloud decided to take the same route, and about the time we entered the gates, it began to pour. We popped into a shop and bought a six pack of ponchos. Not exactly the souvenirs we planned on buying, but after checking the weather forecast, we figured they might be a good investment.

Stupid April showers!

 After getting Fast Passes for Rock'n' Roller Coaster (Aerosmith) first thing, the braver group rode Tower of Terror. Technically, I think it's called Hollywood Tower Hotel now, but everyone still calls it Tower of Terror. I call it off limits, myself.

The less adventurous (photog included) opted for a stroll around the park.

Fortunately, the rain cloud blew on out and we were able to shed the lovely rain ponchos.
Have to admit, it was handy to store the ponchos on the stroller...thank you, Miss K.

After the bravehearts rode the roller coaster, we did some serious snacking...

And while the riders rode Star Tours, the explorers enjoyed the cityscapes in the backlots.

K had her dinner on the curb of Hollywood Studios Main Street.

Then we went back to the hotel and ate at Maya Grill. 

Our hotel was pretty at night.

After dinner, the big kids went to the hot tub to relax...

after all, having fun all day is hard work. 

Others of us hit the sack after a bedtime story.
